The "Technological" in Lawrence Technological University is a misnomer unless you probably only go for their bread and butter of engineering and architecture disciplines. Whatever reviews you see of it 10 years ago still applies today, and the facilities are anemic if you want to get work done. I've graduated within the last couple of years and the support I get during and after acquiring my degree makes me doubt that it was money well spent.

The best thing I've probably done for myself attending there was going to other universities on competitions or study meets without the support of LTU, and finding out that their faculties and student organizations are more proactive and accommodating in terms of research and collaboration. I was originally considering completing a Master's at LTU, but after collaborating with other students at out town competitions and learning about new technologies that is not even mentioned here, made me think twice even with the added Alum discount.

The only saving grace here is that the math department is better than Oakland's, and that there are a FEW amount of professors here that makes the LTU experience almost worth it. Although they have a new president, I anticipate that my review will still be valid 10 years from now, as their only prime employers seems to be focused on automotive and automotive related accessories.

A great school for graduate studies. I hear a lot of complaints from undergraduate students, especially about the way the teachers treat students. My experience was that there were some very condescending professors but, the majority of the professors and instructors were very approachable and knowledgeable. Classes were small. The teachers were also involved in the local businesses and taught what they were doing at workplace. I did my MSIS and a graduate certificate in Project Management. Everything I learned was immediately applicable. Unfortunately, we were still in a ressession when I graduated so there were no jobs. So, I had to keep my old job. But, I can still use the knowledge I gained there. I am planning to do my MBA there in near future. It is pricy but, I think the experience is worth it. The only downside was the library. A local community college has a better library. I had to use another university library to do my research. The cafeteria was great. Parking was free and parking spots were plenty. The campus was safe. There were times when I was on compus at 2 am trying to complete my assignment. The program was very demanding but, doable. They do not challenge you for the sake of challenging you. They challenge you based on what is expected from you. They take your success very seriously. I missed two classes because of the weather and lost 1 level grade in each class. The staff were very friendly and professional. The food and coffee were great. I really had a great experience and would do it again. But I would not do an undergrad there. For one, it is expensive and classes can be larger. I recommend their graduate programs. I was going to do a DBA but, they discontinued it unfortunately.

they will get as much money as they can from u. Very greedy, and no career support at all. Very greedy admission compared to other universities

Absolutely one of the worst universities to attend. First of all, they delete/hide negative Google reviews with any type of text in it. Don't believe me, sort by newest and you'll notice very few recent reviews.

I would avoid this university at all costs.

I was a student here for 5 years. A vast majority of the professors are great and I wish them the best. They truly try their hardest to make their students succeed. However, the administration on the other hand...

Since about 2016 the school has shifted it's priorities away from students and into athletics and focusing on money/profit. They've removed numerous academic scholarships to go towards sports scholarships. This isn't even a D3 school and yet they take pride in their athletics like it's U of M. Since these priorities have changed, there have been limited class options for non-athletics students, less & less facilities for non-athletic students to use, and more.

Last year (2022), they notified all alumni that you can no longer store data or access some basic Google services (like Sheets, Docs, and more). Before I attended LTU, this was a service I was looking forward to. Being able to keep all my schoolwork, projects, and more on the cloud and I don't have to pay for it? Now, this is a Google policy at the end of the day - not an LTU policy. But the fact that no back-up plan provided by LTU for alumni to continue to use is what is extremely disrespectful.

LTU is a great school. A bit pricy, but if you put the time in, most of the program will help you get to where you want to go. It is not a diploma mill, but I've seen students that should not have been admitted. It makes you wonder if the high tuition opens more doors than it should. Only wish the cost was lower, but you do get real teachers from real world jobs, and some of them are brilliant scholars besides being just instructors. Overall, I'd rate the school very high. better than Wayne State, Oakland, and comparable to U of M and Michigan State.
No, it is not MIT or Cal Tech, but it is close to Michigan Tech. The availability of classes is better than 95% of universities out there.

I laugh how half these reviews are not even students... these are all paid reviews International student (3.8gpa) : Yes. You will get a job if you attend. If you would like to work in Michigan that is... You will also have to pay for classes that force you to learn about the American gvt structure (absolutely pointless) as every elective is biased towards domestic students. There are random fees that are never discussed. Wi-Fi is horrible (somewhat decent after 8pm). Gym is always used by athletic teams with poor scheduling. Food on campus is a joke (student government has been fighting to switch provider for years already)
There is no communication between the many departments, if you are architecture and want to work countless hours and nights in a row. Have fun balancing these other $$$ electives because "my class is the most important because it took me many years to be able to teach so if you show less emphasis in my class, I will show less compassion towards your grade" - example of professors logic.

TL:dr LTU will get you a job, their curriculum needs improvement. Facilities are out dated. Hella expensive even for a private institution that gives scholarship, they'll slap you with unregulated fees.

Cheers

Great Engineering school. One of the very best. My BSEE has prepared me and served me very well to work in a very fast moving industry. It's a great time to be a Engineer, technology has never been more challenging and exciting and LTU is highly respected.

LTUs Audio Engineering program does little to distinguish itself from similar cheaper programs at other schools and doesn't cover several vital subjects needed to succeed in the field such as training in programmable equipment like crestron. The total approximate cost of my schooling was about $120,000 and I am still lacking the knowledge required to get an entry-level job in the field. I could have bought a house for the amount of money I have invested into this degree, but instead I am destined to work two jobs for the next several years...

tl;dr:
The Audio program is seriously not worth it. Uses the same professors as Schoolcraft, just go there.
